It Really Is All Relative…

Things are often more than they appear.

What is relativity? Does it affect value? Why should I care about it?

Relativity is huge part of improvement, individually or socially. ‘Basically’, relativity is reality and perception. It is causality, or the genuine causes and effects that exist in the universe. And it is our perception of reality. When considering your individual self and relativity, you have take both aspects of it in to fair consideration, in order to progress.

The first part is pretty obvious and logical to most people, at least in a basic, theoretical sense… Anyone being honest and fair will admit that there is causality in the world; if you kill someone there are effects, and if you feed someone there are different effects. Now, the really tricky part of seeing this side of relativity is being objective and honest, which are really the same thing. You see, you have to not let your emotions or any subconscious reaction interfere with what’s there. You can’t concern your self with “good or bad”- at least not yet. Save your perspective for after you see reality, and your perspective just might change in ways you wouldn’t have previously imagined.

So, what are the genuine causes and effects of killing or feeding someone? The fact of the matter is, we absolutely cannot know all them. ALL of the indirect effects that led up to it, and the indirect effects after it happens are impossible to see and measure. But, what we can see and understand just happens to be the thing that really matters anyway- the cause. We very easily (subconsciously) assume that the direct effect we see is all that matters. ‘If I kill someone, I am punished. If I feed someone, it looks good.’ This is one of the biggest problems with our humanity however- we do not ever try and understand relativity in regards to our selves. We do not see the cause involved in every effect we falsely claim is responsible. The same humanity that murders in cold blood, feeds with compassion. The most important thing you can look at, in order to fairly understand reality, is you. You are the cause of everything you assume, think, want, imagine, believe, know, emote, feel, and do.

This leads us to the second aspect of relativity- us. Our unique human and individual perspectives are relative on their own. In other words, no matter what happens in reality, you can perceive something different or nothing at all. As I mentioned, “good and bad” are one example of this. Something may only be good because you are making an assumption to feel comfortable. Something may only be bad because it ‘seems’ uncomfortable. If you were to alter your perception through consciously having willpower over your subconscious however, “good and bad” may get a whole new look.

Is it “good” to pay taxes? Well, I guess it has a lot to do with what happens with that money, doesn’t it? Can you honestly say that you even know what happens with it? Is it bad to hurt someone? Well, I am a pacifist and have avoided physical altercation my entire life, but if a group of people tried to killed me, and I hurt some while defending myself, it would be hard to see it as bad- It is all relative.

I want you to look at these two aspects of relativity in everything you have done, and everything you do, because it’s only when you can truly be open to being wrong and admitting what’s real, that you can improve your mentality/humanity. We have a rough job as humans in terms of trying to get better- we have to see reality- including the reality we cloud our vision by default. However, we are the only beings that can improve our selves, so “easy and hard” are only relative to us.
